1. India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue started in New Delhi

The second India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue has been started in New Delhi.

It will be held under the chairmanship of NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar and Deputy Minister of the Economic Development of Russia, Timur Maksimov.The meeting will focus on six core areas of cooperation, including the development of transport infrastructure and technologies, agriculture and agro-processing sector and small and medium business support.The first Dialogue was held in St. Petersburg in November last year.

2. India-Asean Troika Trade Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi

India - ASEAN Troika Trade Ministers’ meeting was held in New Delhi for informal consultation on the ongoing Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

India looks at RCEP as a logical extension of its Act East Policy and it holds enormous potential for economic growth and stability for the entire region.The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between the ten member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) and the six Indo-Pacific states (China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand).

3. Jaishankar to attend Commonwealth Foreign Ministers' meet in London

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar will attend the 19th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers' Meeting in London.

The EAM is likely to meet his British counterpart Jeremey Hunt among other foreign ministers during the conference.The conclave, which will be held at the Commonwealth's headquarters in Marlborough House, will see the participation of foreign ministers from different Commonwealth countries, including Pakistan.

4. Connaught Place 9th most expensive office location in the world: CBRE

New Delhi's Connaught Place (CP) is the ninth most expensive office location in the world according to property consultant CBRE.

CP, located in the heart of the national capital, was at the ninth position even last year. In its annual Global Prime Office Occupancy Costs survey, CBRE tracks the cost of leasing prime office space globally.Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex and Nariman Point CBD slipped to 27th and 40th positions, respectively.Hong Kong’s Central district retained the top spot as the world’s most expensive market for prime office rents.

5. India to host 14th Conference of Parties

India is set to host the 14th Conference of the Parties (COP) from September 02 to 13 as confirmed by Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar.

The global conference will be hosted at India Expo Mart Limited in Greater Noida. As many as 197 countries are expected to participate in the conference.

6. Delhi Police reunited 333 children with their families this year under ‘Operation Milap’

The Delhi Police’s crime branch has this year reunited 333 children with their families after they separated from their parents under Operation Milap.

The operation Milap under which children are rescued was launched in December 2014.Under this project, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Delhi Police develops information, rescues the trafficked or kidnapped person and arrests the kidnapper.

7. Madhya Pradesh to produce its own seeds brand ‘Shaej-Beej’

The Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Federation will produce high-quality seed.

The brand name of seeds will be ‘Sah-Beej’.A plan has been made to produce seeds from the next Rabi season.A large number of seed committees present in the state, which will be linked to the seed federation and these committees will help in the marketing of seeds.

8. Sunil Chhetri and Ashalata Devi bag top honours in AIFF awards

Indian men's footballer Sunil Chhetri and women's footballer Ashalata Devi won the biggest prizes in their respective categories as the All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced awards for the 2018-19 season.

Chhetri was declared as the men's footballer of the year whereas in the women's category Devi was announced as the footballer of the yearThis is the third consecutive footballer of the year win for Chhetri and his seventh honour in men's category.Chhetri recently surpassed Argentine striker Lionel Messi to become the second highest active goal-scorer in international football.Chhetri scored a brace against Tajikistan in Intercontinental Cup to take his goal tally to 70.

9. India wins 13 medals on the opening day of Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship

India won 13 medals on the opening day of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Apia, Samoa.

The medals comprised 8 Gold, 3 silver and 2 Bronze.Former world champion Mirabai Chanu led the Indian medal rush in the senior women's 49 kg event to win the gold medal in the Olympic qualifying event.Jhilli Dalabehra also clinched the first place on the podium with a lift of 154 kg in the senior women's 45 kg event which is not an Olympic weight category. In the senior women's 55 kg, Soroikhaibam Bindyarani Devi won the gold while silver went to Matsa Santoshi. In the senior men's 55kg category, Rishikanta Singh grabbed the gold with a total lift of 235 kg.

10. Former India goalkeeper AU Celestine passes away

Former India goalkeeper AU Celestine died in Chennai after a brief illness.

He had represented India in the Merdeka Cup in Malaysia in 1969.A cartilage injury cut short his football career and he later took up coaching and trained the Tamil Nadu state teams (junior, sub-junior and women).Celestine was also a talent spotter for the All India Football Federation.
