1. World Day for International Justice: 17 July

World Day for International Justice is also known as International Criminal Justice Day.

It is observed globally on 17 July every year to recognise the strengthening system of international justice.On this is the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998.With the help of this treaty, the International Criminal Court (ICC) was established.


2. Uttrakhand CM plants trees on Harela festival

Uttrakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat participated in a tree plantation drive under "Rispana to Rishiparna" campaign on the occasion of Harela festival.

Harela is a Hindu festival celebrated basically in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state of India. It is celebrated thrice in a year, the first two are during both the Navratis, Chaitra Navrati in the month of Chaitra and Sharad Navratri in the month of Ashwin.Harela means the "day of green" and onnce it is marks the onset of monsoon.


3. Haryana cabinet approves setting up of Sports University at Rai

Haryana cabinet approves the setting up of Haryana Sports University at Rai, Sonepat.

The University will have powers to conduct academic and training programmes in physical education and sports sciences. It will have powers to conduct academic and training programmes in physical education and sports sciences, including sports technology, sports medicine, sports management, sports infrastructure engineering, sports psychology, sports nutrition, sports journalism and sports marketing.


4. OYO Hotels & Homes acquires co-working firm Innov8

OYO Hotels & Homes has formally announced its acquisition of co-working venture Innov8.

The SoftBank-backed hospitality chain was planning to expand the business to 50 centres by the end of the current calendar year. As part of the acquisition, OYO will also onboard an estimated 150 Innov8 employees on to its rolls.


5. B B Harichandan, Anusaiya Uikey appointed Governors of AP, Chhattisgarh

BJP veteran and former Odisha minister Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and former BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh Anusuiya Uikey were appointed Governors of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh respectively.

Harichandan will replace E S L Narasimhan, who is also Governor of Telangana.Uikey will replace Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, who was holding additional responsibility of Chhattisgarh.


6. Kiran More to take charge as interim USA cricket team coach

Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Kiran More has been appointed the interim coach of the USA cricket team.

More will take over from the former coach Pubudu Dassanayake of Sri Lanka.The USA Cricket has also appointed former India spinner Sunil Joshi as spin bowling advisor.


7. Zakir Hussain, Sonal Mansingh Among 4 Selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellow

The Sangeet Natak Akademi has named four eminent personalities in the field of performing arts - tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, dancer Sonal Mansingh, dancer and choreographer Jatin Goswami and Bharatnatyam exponent K. Kalyanasundaram Pillai - for the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellow or Akademi Ratna awards.

The Akademi decided on the names at its meeting held on June 26, at Guwahati, Assam.The Fellowship of the Akademi is the most prestigious and a rare honour, which is restricted to 40 numbers at any given time.


8. 'Game of Thrones' sets record with 32 Emmy nominations!

The 71st Annual Emmy Awards nominations were unveiled with 'Game of Thrones' and 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' leading the nomination.

'Game of Thrones' emerged as the top contender with 32 nominations in the drama category.The insanely popular drama series has managed to set a new record for most nominations earned in a single year by any drama series. In the comedy category, Amazon Prime's 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' picked up 20 nominations.


9. Anahat Singh, Neel Joshi win titles at Dutch Junior Open tournament

Two Indian players managed to win titles while another finished as runner-up on the final day of the Dutch Junior Open squash tournament in Amsterdam.

Anahat Singh won the girls’ U13 title after a gritty performance in the final while Neel Joshi captured the boys’ U17 title.


10. Vijayveer wins his 3rd gold at Junior Shooting World Cup

Vijayveer Sidhu picked up his third gold medal of the ongoing ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany, combining with Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu and Adarsh Singh to clinch the men's 25m pistol event.

For Adarsh, it was his second gold of the competition.India maintained its top spot at the medal standings after day three with 7 gold 7 Silver and 2 Bronze in a total of 16 medals won so far.China is second with 5 Gold 3 Silver and 5 bronze.
