1. India, China to carry out major military exercise ‘Hand in Hand’
Continuing to expand military to military engagements, India and China will be carrying out a major military exercise called ‘Hand-in-Hand’ in Meghalaya.
The planning conference for the exercise will be held next month.The exercise will take place at Umroi, Meghalaya.The exercise was previously held in December last year at Chengdu, China.
2. New Governors appointed for six states
President has appointed Governors for six states.
Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandi Ben Patel will now be the new Governor of Uttar Pradesh.Lal Ji Tandon, who is the Governor of Bihar, has been shifted to Madhya Pradesh.Phagu Chauhan will be the Governor of Bihar replacing Lal Ji Tandon.Jagdeep Dhankhar has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal while Ramesh Bais is the Tripura Governor.R.N.Ravi will be the new Governor of Nagaland.
3. Hima Das wins gold in 400m race
Indian sprinter Hima Das won a gold medal in the 400-meter race with a season-best time of 52.09 seconds at Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic.
It was Hima's fifth gold medal since July 2 when she ran her first competitive race in Europe.Hima has already won gold in 200 meters race at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix and Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland earlier this month.She won her third 200 meters gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet and fourth gold at the Tabor Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic.
4. India's Asian Games silver in mixed relay event to be upgraded to gold
India is in line to get the Asian Games gold in 4x400 mixed relay as Kemi Adekoya of Bahrain, who was part of the gold-winning team, has been handed a four-year ban for failing a dope test.
The silver won by India's mixed relay team of Mohammad Anas, Hima Das, Arokia Rajiv and M R Poovamma at the Asian Games in Jakarta last year is set to be upgraded to gold.Athletics Integrity Unit said that Adekoya's results between August 24, 2018, and November 26, 2018, will be disqualified.
5. Shooting Junior World Cup: Aishwarya Pratap Singh clinches gold in rifle 3-position event
In the Shooting Junior World Cup, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar clinched gold with a junior world record in the final of rifle 3-position event in Suhl Germany.
After qualifying in the fourth place with a total of 1171, Tomar with a score of 459.3 scores beats Zalan Pekler of Hungary by 4.5 points for the gold.India finished the ISSF tournament on top of the table with 10 gold, nine silver and five bronze for a total of 24 medals.
6. Indian Men & Women's teams win Commonwealth Table Tennis title
In Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship held in Cuttack, India made a record by winning gold in both men’s and women’s category.
The Indian men won the final match defeating England 3-2.The Indian women team defeated England 3-0 in the final match.The Indian women team won the gold for the first time in the history in the commonwealth games.
7. Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit passes away
Three-time Delhi Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Shiela Dixit passed away in New Delhi.
Dikshit served as the Chief Minister of Delhi from 1998 to 2013.She was the second woman chief minister of Delhi.She was the senior-most Congress leader in its Delhi unit.
8. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju launches AIFF Golden Baby Leagues handbook
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju launched the All India Football Federation's Golden Baby Leagues handbook 2019-20 on the sidelines of the Intercontinental Cup in Ahemadabad.
The launch marked the renaming of the 'AIFF Baby Leagues' to 'AIFF Golden Baby Leagues', with the emphasis being laid for ages under 6 to under 12 both for girls and boys.Launching the league minister said that Baby League sounds very cute and actual scouting for talent has to start from a very young age.
