1. Culture Minister inaugurates architectural illumination of Safdarjung Tomb

Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated the architectural illumination of the historic Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi.

A total of 213 technologically advanced LED lights have been used to highlight the 17th-century monument.The consumption of LED lights is approximately 62 per cent less than conventional light fixtures. To highlight the archaeological magnificence of historical monuments, the Archaeological Survey of India has taken up the project to illuminate the important monuments of Delhi.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates two bridges in J&K

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 1000 meter long Ujh Bridge in Kathua district and 617.40-meter Basantar Bridge in samba district.

One Km long Ujh bridge is the longest bridge constructed by BRO.The bridge is located on Parole-Korepannu-Rajpura road over UjhNallah.Basantar bridge is located on Rajpura–Madwal–Pangadur–Phulpur road over BasantarNallah.These bridges will provide smooth connectivity and are vital for the Army for deployment on border areas.

3. DefExpo India-2020 to be held in Lucknow for the first time

The Eleventh biennial edition of DefExpo India - 2020 is scheduled to be held for the first time in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow in February 2020.

The four-day event, beginning from 5th of February, will offer an excellent opportunity for the Indian defence industry to showcase its capabilities and promote its export potential.The main theme of the DefExpo India- 2020 will be ‘India - the Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub’ and the focus will be on Digital Transformation of Defence.

4. LIC offering Rs 1.25 trillion by 2024 for highway projects

Insurance giant LIC has agreed to offer Rs 1.25 trillion lines of credit by 2024, to fund highway projects.

The fund will be a part of innovative modes of financing to meet India's huge infrastructure appetite.The Road Transport and Highways Ministry been looking to harness various sources of finances including pension and insurance funds.The fund will be provided for the timely execution of the Rs 8.41 trillion ambitious Bharatmala project that aims to lay a grid of highways pan-India.

5. Sanjeev Kumar Singla appointed as Indian Ambassador to Israel

Senior diplomat Sanjeev Kumar Singla has been appointed as the next Indian Ambassador to Israel.

Singla who is a 1997-batch Indian Foreign Service officer was serving as Private Secretary to Prime Minister.Also, Upender Singh Rawat has been named as the Indian Ambassador to the Republic of Panama.

6. North Korea wins Intercontinental Cup title

North Koren triumphed in the second edition of Intercontinental Cup football tournament beating Tajikistan in the final.

Both finalists were the two lowest-ranked teams of the four-nation tournament, the other participants being hosts India and Syria.The champions won prize money of USD 50000 while the runners-up received USD 25000.

7. Shiva Thapa becomes India's first gold medallist in Kazakhstan President's Cup

Four-time Asian medallist Shiva Thapa became India's first gold medallist at the President's Cup boxing tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Making his international debut in the newly-introduced Olympic category of 63kg, Thapa was to fight Kazakhstan's Zakir Safiullin in the summit clash but his opponent had to pull out due to injury.Woman boxer Parveen (60kg) lost her final bout to Rimma Volosenko and claimed a silver medal.

8. P.V. Sindhu loses Indonesia Open final to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi

Star badminton player P.V. Sindhu had to be content with a runner-up finish at the Indonesia Open.

She lost the title clash in straight games to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, in Jakarta.This was Sindhu's first final of 2019. She has had two semi-final finishes this year, at the India Open in March, the Singapore Open in April.

9. Indian bodybuilder Ravinder Malik clinches Mr South Asia title

Indian bodybuilder Ravinder Kumar Malik has clinched Mr South Asia title.

He has crowned the overall champion at 12th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Kathmandu.Afghanistan won team championship by securing a top position with 535 points. Host Nepal finished second with 445 points, while India remained third with 380 points.

10. Former Delhi BJP chief Mange Ram Garg dies

Former Delhi BJP president Mange Ram Garg passed away.

Garg represented the Wazirpur Assembly constituency in the national capital between 2003 and 2008.He had held a number of positions in the BJP, including that of the treasurer, the district president and the chief of its Delhi unit.
