1. World Asteroid Day: 30 June 2019

June 30 is observed as the International Asteroid Day in order to raise public awareness about the possible hazardous impacts of asteroids.

This day is celebrated in the remembrance of Earth's largest asteroid impact ever recorded in history which happened on June 30, 1908. It happened near Tunguska in Siberia, Russia and hence is remembered as the Tunguska event.

2. Abu Dhabi to host first ISA's joint security exercise ISALEX19

Abu Dhabi, UAE is hosting first International Security Alliance from 1 July 2019.

Representatives of 50 law enforcement agencies of the are taking part in the ISALEX19.The International Security Alliance, launched in 2017 in Abu Dhabi, is an international working group to confront organised, transnational and extremist crimes.The alliance now comprises nine countries, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, France, Italy, Spain, Senegal, Singapore, and the Slovak Republic.

3. National Doctor’s Day: 1 July 2019

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated on the 1st of July in India every year.

This day honours doctors across the country for their relentless service throughout the year. In India, Doctor’s Day is celebrated to honour the legendary Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was also the second Chief Minister of West Bengal.2019 theme: ‘Zero tolerance to violence against doctors and clinical establishment’

4. 2nd Anniversary of GST

The 2nd GST Day is being celebrated today, July 1, 2019, as it marks two years since the unveiling of the Goods and Services Tax regime in India.

Inspired by the idea of one nation one tax, GST replaced 17 taxes.The introduction of GST was a game changer for the Indian economy as it has replaced multi-layered, complex indirect tax structure with a simple, transparent and technology-driven tax regime.The tax came into effect from July 1, 2017, through the implementation of 101 amendment of the Constitution of India by the Indian government.

5. ‘One nation one ration card’ scheme from July 1, 2020

Government is all set to implement one nation-one ration card scheme across the country by the end of June 2020.

This means poor migrant workers will be able to buy subsidised rice and wheat from any ration shop in the country, so long as their ration cards are linked to Aadhaar.All the States have been given one more year to use point of sale (PoS) machines in the ration shops and implement the scheme.

6. ITBP DIG Aparna Kumar becomes the first civil servant to summit Mount Denali

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Aparna Kumar has become the first civil servant to scale Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America.

Ms Kumar, a 2002 batch IPS officer from UP cadre is currently posted as DIG, ITBP Northern Frontier at Dehradun.This was her 7th summit in her '7 Summits' challenge.She also became the first woman IPS DIG and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officer to successfully complete the South Pole expedition.

7. Fund transfers via RTGS, NEFT to cost less from 1 July 2019

The Reserve Bank of India will waive all charges on fund transfer through popular RTGS and NEFT systems from July 1 and asked banks to pass on the benefits to customers.

The Real Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS) is meant for large-value instantaneous fund transfers while the National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) System is used for fund transfers of up to Rs 2 lakh. Country's largest bank SBI charges between Re 1 and Rs 5 for transactions through NEFT and between Rs 5 and Rs 50 for RTGS route.

8. NALCO to get President’s award for excellent CSR in social development

Odisha-based Navaratna Company National Aluminium Company (NALCO) has been selected for President's award for utilisation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund in social development.

To promote the education of Girls of BPL families, NAVARATNA Company NALCO has started "Aliali Jhia" a new scheme on the line of BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO" from 2015.Under this scheme, 416 girls from BPL families of 66 villages of Anugul, Damanjodi and Potangi area in Anugul and Koraput districts have been adopted by Company.The Company is bearing all the expenditure for education and promotion of talent from 8th to 10th class.

9. Veer wins U-19 Asian Squash title

In Squash, India won gold, as Veer Chotrani beat Yash Fadte to win the Under-19 title at the Asian Junior Championship in Macau, China.

With this victory, Veer became the third Indian to win the Asian trophy after Ravi Dixit and Vela Senthilkumar. In the other two finals, India bagged two silver medals through Neel Joshi in the boys' Under-17 category and Yuvna Gupta in the girls' Under-15 section.India finished the tournament with one gold, three silver and as many bronze medals.

10. Wimbledon 2019 starts

In Tennis, the iconic tennis championships Wimbledon 2019 start in London.

Rafael Nadal is in the same half of the men's singles as eight-time champion Roger Federer.
