1. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day: 15 June
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is held on June 15th every year.
The UN aims to raise awareness of elder abuse and prevent it, and on this day.Elder abuse is global and comes in many forms including physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse and also neglect.

2. India slips 5 places to 141 on Global Peace Index 2019
India has slipped by four points in an annual global index on peacefulness this year, finishing at 141 among 163 countries.
Iceland remained at the top position, according to a report by an international think tank.The Global Peace Index (GPI) gauges ongoing domestic and international conflict, safety and security in society, and the degree of militarisation in 163 countries and territories by taking into account 23 indicators.Iceland remains the most peaceful country in the world, a position it has held since 2008.
3. Culture Minister, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, inaugurates the exhibition-‘Astitva: The Essence of Prabhakar Barwe’
Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (I/C) of Culture & Tourism, Government of India inaugurated the exhibition titled "Astitva: The Essence of Prabhakar Barwe”, at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
Highlighting the significance of museums, the Culture Minister said that museums are required ‘to look into our past thereby helping us to move forward in life by learning things from the past’.The Minister also added the museums act as a ‘symbol of respect for our ancestors’.
4. Prime Minister Modi, Kyrgyzstan President Jeenbekov jointly inaugurate India-Kyrgyz Business Forum
PM Narendra Modi and Kyrgyzstan President Jeenbekov inaugurated Indian-Kyrgyz Business forum.
The two leaders also asked their business communities to explore the untapped potential for deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.Addressing the India-Kyrgyz Business Forum, the Prime Minister said that India and Kyrgyzstan have given the final shape to the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and the bilateral investment treaty, which would help in creating a proper atmosphere for the bilateral trade.After the bilateral meetings 15 agreements were signed for the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas including strategic defence partnership.

6. Sahitya Akademi announces Bal Sahitya Puraskar and Yuva Puraskar 2019
Sahitya Akademi has selected 22 writers for the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2019 and 23 writers for Yuva Puraskar 2019.
The awardees have been selected on the basis of recommendations made by the Jury comprising of three members each in the concerned language, in accordance with the rules and procedure laid down for the purpose.The Award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque and a cheque of Rs.50,000/- will be presented to the awardees at a special function.

7. IAAF to rebrand as World Athletics
World athletics’ governing body, the IAAF will be rebranded as World Athletics.
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) was initially founded in 1912 as the International Amateur Athletic Federation.The body, currently presided over by Britain’s two-time Olympic 1500m gold medallist Sebastian Coe, took its present name in 2001. World Athletics should be operational from October.
8. India static at 101st in FIFA rankings
The Indian football team remained static at 101st place in the latest FIFA rankings issued.
India had finished third in the King's Cup in Thailand, which the organizers had said was a FIFA-sanctioned tournament.India's ranking points remained the same as 1219, like that of the previous list, issued on 4th April this year.The Indian team is at 18th spot among the Asian countries led by Iran (20th), Japan (28), Korea (37), Australia (43) and Qatar (55) form the top five in Asia.Belgium continued to top overall world rankings, followed by France, Brazil, England and Portugal.
