1. NITI Aayog has launched the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) on International Women’s Day. Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) would provide a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem where women do not face any gender-based barriers. 

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर नीति आयोग ने महिला उद्यमिता प्लेटफॉर्म (डब्ल्यूईपी) का शुभारंभ किया। महिला उद्यमिता प्लेटफॉर्म (डब्ल्यूईपी), उद्यमिता का एक ऐसा इको सिस्टम प्रदान करेगा, जहां महिलाओं को लिंग आधारित भेदभाव का सामना नहीं करना पड़ेगा।



2. India's senior architect, Balkrishna Doshi has become the first Indian to win the architecture’s highest honour- 'Pritzker Architecture Prize'. 


भारत के वरिष्ठ आर्किटेक्ट बालकृष्ण दोशी, आर्किटेक्चर के सर्वोच्च सम्मान 'प्रित्जकर आर्किटेक्चर प्राइज' जीतने वाले पहले भारतीय बन गये हैं। 


3. Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 40 lakh on State Bank of India for breach of norms on counterfeit notes. 


भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने नकली नोटों पर मानदंडों का उल्लंघन करने के लिए भारतीय स्टेट बैंक पर 40 लाख रुपये का मौद्रिक दंड लगाया है। 


4. According to Knight Frank Wealth's Report 2018, Mumbai has been ranked 16th among the top 20 costliest cities in the world. 


नाइट फ्रैंक वेल्थ की रिपोर्ट 2018 के अनुसार, मुंबई विश्व के शीर्ष 20 सबसे महंगे शहरों में 16 वें स्थान पर है।
5. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has launched 'Udayam Sakhi' (www.udyamsakhi.org) portal for women entrepreneurs of India on the occasion of International Women’s Day. 


सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यम मंत्रालय (एमएसएमई) ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर भारत की महिला उद्यमियों के लिए 'उद्यम सखी' (www.udyamsakhi.org) पोर्टल शुरू किया है। 


6. The Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R K Singh has launched the National E-Mobility Programme. The Programme aims to provide an impetus to the entire e-mobility ecosystem including vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure companies, fleet operators, service providers, etc.

7. Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Gita Mittal has become the first woman from the field of law and justice who has been conferred the 'Nari Shakti Puraskar'. 


दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट की कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीश गीता मित्तल, कानून और न्याय के क्षेत्र से 'नारी शक्ति पुरस्कार' से सम्मानित होने वाली पहली महिला बन गई है। 


8. The Union Cabinet has approved an Agreement between India and France on the Prevention of the Illicit Consumption and Reduction of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Chemical Precursors, and related offences. 


केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने नशीले पदार्थों, मादक द्रव्‍यों, उनके रासायनिक यौगिकों की तस्‍करी और सं‍बंधित अपराधों में कमी लाने और अवैधानिक उपयोग को रोकने के लिए भारत तथा फ्रांस के बीच एक समझौते को मंजूरी दी है।     


9. The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Public Service Commission of Mauritius. 


केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (युपीएससी) और मॉरिशस के लोक सेवा आयोग के बीच समझौता-ज्ञापन पर हस्‍ताक्षर करने को मंजूरी दी। 


10. Union Cabinet has given its approval for signing of an agreement between India and France to facilitate "Mutual Recognition of Academic Qualifications". 


केन्‍द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने 'अकादमिक योग्‍यता की पारस्‍परिक मान्‍यता' के संदर्भ में भारत और फ्रांस के बीच एक समझौते पर हस्‍ताक्षर को मंजूरी दी है। 


11. Competition Commission of India (CCI) has slapped a total penalty of more than ₹54 crore on Jet Airways, InterGlobe Aviation (Indigo) and SpiceJet. 


भारतीय प्रतिस्पर्धा आयोग (सीसीआई) ने जेट एयरवेज, इंटरग्लोब एविएशन (इंडिगो) और स्पाइसजेट पर 54 करोड़ रूपए से अधिक का जुर्माना लगाया है।

1. Mumbai gets 47th spot on global city wealth index, says report
An independent global property consultancy, in a city wealth index report, ranked India's financial capital Mumbai at 47th spot out of 314 cities across the globe.
  • As per the Knight Frank's Wealth Report 2018, the 'city wealth index' takes into consideration four major indicators for ranking - Wealth, investments, lifestyle and future. 
  • In terms of the top 20 costliest global cities, where $1 million can buy only 92 square metres of area, Mumbai has been ranked at 16th position.
2. India ranks 52 in Mastercard women entrepreneurs index
India ranked 52 among 57 countries studied for the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs (MIWE), showed the findings of its second edition.
  • The latest ranking for India remains unchanged from the previous year.
  • The MIWE focuses on female entrepreneurs’ ability to capitalise on opportunities granted through various supporting conditions within their local environments.
3. India to give UN $15.82m for Nepal quake reconstruction
India has pledged 15.82 million dollars in assistance to quake-ravaged Nepal for its massive reconstruction programme.
  • India signed an agreement in this regard with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to build 50000 homes for the quake victims.
  • As per the agreement, the Indian Government will give 8.41 million US dollars to the UNOPS and 7.41 Million US dollar to the UNDP.

4. PM launches National Nutrition Mission
On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, launched the National Nutrition Mission, and expansion of the coverage of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme, at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan.
  • He also interacted with beneficiary mothers and girl children of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme.
  • The Prime Minister awarded certificates to the best performing districts under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme.
5. Government announces launch of ‘SUVIDHA’
Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ananth kumar announced the launch of ‘Suvidha’, the 100% Oxo-biodegradable Sanitary Napkin, under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
  • The affordable sanitary napkin will be available for Rs. 2.50 per pad at over 3200 Janaushadhi Kendras across India and would ensure ‘Swachhta, Swasthya and Suvidha’for the underprivileged Women of India.
  • This step taken by the Department of Pharmaceuticals will ensure the achievement of Prime Minster Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Affordable and Quality Healthcare for All.
 6. Udyam Sakhi Portal Launched for Women Entrepreneurs
On the occasion of International Women’s Day today, March 8,the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) launched a portal for women entrepreneursof India: www.udyamsakhi.org.
  • The portal was unveiled by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of MSME, Giriraj Singh, in a program.
  • The Minister said that India has around 8 million women who have started and are running their own businesses and the Ministry of MSME believes that the women in India can play a vital role in the growth of the Indian economy.
  • The portal is a network for nurturing entrepreneurship and creating business models for low cost products and services in order to empower women and make them self-reliant and self-sufficient.

7. RBI slaps Rs 40 lakh penalty on SBI
The Reserve Bank has slapped a penalty of Rs 40 lakh on SBI for not complying with its directions on detection and impounding of counterfeit notes.
  • RBI said it found deficiencies on SBI's part in regulatory compliance with counterfeit notes regulations.
  • The regulator had carried out inspection of currency chests of two branches of the country's largest lender and noticed violation of its instructions issued on the detection and impounding of counterfeit notes.
8. TCS ranked as the fastest growing IT services brand in 2018
Leading global IT services organisation, Tata Consultancy Services was named as the fastest growing IT services brand in the world in an assessment done by leading brand valuation firm, Brand Finance.
  • According to Brand Finance IT Services 15 annual report for 2018, TCS now has a total brand value of USD 10.391 billion; a growth of 14.4 percent from last year.

9. Neiphiu Rio Takes Oath As Nagaland Chief Minister
Neiphiu Rio has took oath today as the Chief Minister of Nagaland. This comes after the BJP and the Nationalist Democratic People's Party (NDPP) won 29 seats in the elections.
  • This will be Neiphiu Rio's fourth time as the Chief Minister of Nagaland.
  • Mr Rio was the Chief Minister of Nagaland for three terms between 2003 and 2014, making him the only Nagaland Chief Minister to have served three consecutive terms.

10. Balkrishna Doshi named India's first winner of the Pritzker Prize

Balkrishna Doshi has become the first Indian architect to win the Pritzker Prize in its four-decade history.
  • Regarded as the profession's equivalent to the Nobel Prize, the award went to Doshi in recognition of a career spanning almost 70 years.
  • Doshi is known for designing low-cost housing and public institutions.
  • Among his most acclaimed projects are Tagore Memorial Hall in Ahmedabad and the Aranya Low Cost Housing development.

UK college to teach Hinglish to students for jobs in India


UK's Portsmouth College has offered to teach its students 'Hinglish', a mix of Hindi and English languages, becoming the country's first educational institution to do so. The course is being introduced partly due to India's growing economic importance and to prepare British students who may take up jobs in India or in Indian companies based in the UK.

Delhi Police launches All Women Patrolling Squad to strengthen women safety



On the eve of International Women’s Day, the Delhi police launched an "All-women patrolling squad". With the motto - Be the change, you want to see - wearing on their sleeves, the women suad riding mean machine in Delhi’s south district aims to protect women from cat-callers and instil a sense of confidence among women. The squad was launched in the form of a ‘road trip’ from Sarojni Nagar to Select Citywalk Mall in Saket.

Delhi Metro withdraws from two light metro projects in Kerala



Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced its exit from the proposed light metro project for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. The Rs. 7,500 crore light metro project was proposed to cover 35.12 km in two cities and the state’s revised share in the project was pegged at Rs 2,700 crore.

On International Womens Day, Govt launches biodegradable sanitary napkins at Rs. 2.50 per pad



The Central government launched biodegradable sanitary napkins under the name ‘Suvidha’, priced at ₹2.50 per pad, which will be available at Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras. The sanitary napkins will be available in a pack of four pads for Rs. 10 across over 3,200 PMBJP Kendras by May 28, 2018.  

US President Donald Trump to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong un for 1st time by May


President Donald Trump has accepted an offer of a summit from the North Korean leader and will meet with Kim Jong Un by May, in a remarkable turnaround in relations between two historic adversaries. it would be the first time a sitting US president has met a North Korea leader. North Korea recently offered to denuclearize itself for a guarantee of security against military threats from the US.

An event named 'Vision for Future' was inaugurated at the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi  to commemorate 70 years of the Indo-Russia ties. This Program was organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (Eurasia Division) and the International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs.

World ATM Congress WATMC 2018 held in Spain, Airports Authority of India showcased its achievements


The Airports Authority of India (AAI) participated and showcased its achievements and initiatives in World ATM Congress (WATMC) 2018 held at IFEMA, Feria de Madrid, Spain from March 6 to 8. World ATM Congress is the world's largest international air traffic management (ATM) exhibition and conference attracting thousands of delegates each year.

India win their 6th consecutive T20I against Bangladesh, Nidahas Trophy


India defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in the second T20I of the Nidahas Trophy in Colombo, to register their sixth consecutive T20I victory and maintain their 100% win record in T20Is against them.
